Leonard Lerer, MD, MBA trained as a physician and has post-graduate degrees in epidemiology and pathology and a MBA. He spent almost a decade occupying various academic and administrative roles at INSEAD, a top-5 global business school and has extensive experience in public and private sector life sciences finance. In 2018, he established Back of the Yards Algae Sciences, a sustainable biotechnology company, building up a portfolio of innovative ingredients  in food, agriculture and medical biotechnology. Leonard Lerer  is the inventor of ParowBio’s core entheogen extraction technology. He is also the inventor on patent filings related to the application mycelial-derived psychedelics in  PTSD, depression, OCD, autism, microbiome dysregulation and traumatic brain injury (TBI). At ParowBio, he leads a team comprising of specialist mycologists, analytical and medicinal chemists have extensive expertise in the extraction and purification of psychoactive molecules from mycelia, algae and plant cells.
